GREENING GOOSE ISLAND

Goose Island's single use, aging industrial zone presents an immediate and important site of engagement for the city. The only island in Chicago, it presents acres of opportunity for the city to showcase new thinking about sustainable urban waterfront living in the 21st century. Goose Island's acropolis shaped nonentity currently disconnects neighborhoods to the north, south and east. Imagine this decaying, postindustrial wasteland bifurcated by Division Street, hanging by a thread to Halstead, transformed into a lush and breezy edible urban landscape. STUDIO 1032's GREENING GOOSE ISLAND was exhibited as part of the Burnham 100 Bold Visions.
